   The Savoy Club in Harlem was home base for the Lindy Hop and most of the top bands and dancers. Jazz greats such as Count Basie, Bennie Goodman and Duke Ellington played on the Savoy's bandstands - the hotter the music, the hotter the dancing. Some of the best Lindy Hoppers at the Savoy were part of Whitey's Lindy Hoppers, a lively troupe that performed worldwide in the late '30s and early '40s and appeared in movies and on the Ed Sullivan Show. Frankie Manning, who turned eighty in 1994, was one of the lead dancers in Whitey's Lindy Hoppers.
